à propos

In Berlin, September 2010

Who the hell is this person?

My name is Tracey Lindeman and I’m a freelance journalist based in Montreal, Quebec, where I’ve lived my entire life. My full-time job is working for the TV and radio ratings people. I graduated with a BA in Journalism from Concordia University in the spring of 2007. I’ve been writing for The Mirror, the main alt weekly in town, since 2004. I also write pieces for other publications too, though less frequently than for The Mirror.

There are few things I love more in life than journalism, baking and music. What began as a fun hobby has become an aspiration of mine, and I hope to keeping honing my pastry making skills (and cooking skills, too). Many of my blog posts are recipes I’ve tried or am hoping to try; some fail and some are great successes.

When I was a kid, I ate the blandest of foods—I used to hate it when my peas touched my mashed potatoes! Then I became a vegetarian, and remained as such for a decade. Because I stopped eating meat around the age of 14 or 15, I never learned how to really cook. But at 24, I was diagnosed with a common digestion disorder, IBS; I also developed an acute intolerance to soy, which made it virtually impossible to continue being a vegetarian. Since I began eating meat again, it’s as if a whole world of cooking has opened up. My decision to become a carnivore once again has been well-documented in this blog, and I am now glad to say I’m an unrepentant meat eater. I fucking love you, bacon.

I try to travel as much as possible. And while it’s not the most popular thing to say these days, I must confess I love the old U.S. of A. I’ve traveled through it by bus (from Montreal to San Francisco), and have visited some of its more prominent cities: Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, New York City, Boston, Chicago. I’ve also visited Paris, Amsterdam, London, Berlin, Dublin, Mexico City, Oaxaca, Riviera Maya/Yucatan Peninsula, Tijuana,  Moscow, St. Petersburg (Russia) and have been across Canada by plane, train and automobile (well, bus).

Anyway, click this link if you’d like to see more shit I like.
